Based in and around the ancient historic woodlands of Sherwood Forest, the 5G Connected Forest programme is led by Nottinghamshire County Council in partnership with academic researchers and local businesses. With funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), matched by the consortium partners, the programme will primarily focus on how 5G technology could support the tourism and environment protection sectors.

The 5G Connected Forest project will trial 5G deployment in the area around Sherwood Forest along with a range of AR/VR, robotic, IoT ideas focused on the tourism and environmental protection sectors. It is also hoped that the programme will act as a catalyst for building skills and education in the county.

The session will provide an introduction to the project's aims, including the potential for virtual reality visitor experiences incorporating the legendary Robin Hood, technology to teach about the natural habitat and inspire the next generation of conservationists, robotics to monitor and protect the environment and to reduce the environmental impact of visitors; with parallel work to explore the opportunities to boost local businesses and skills with a 5G Innovation Hub.

All members will be emailed news regarding webinar events. Registration details will be included in the email.
