Digital is one of the major buzz words in industry today with almost every private and public sector company looking to “Digitise” their systems and processes. Whether this is being driven by “The Industrial Internet”, “Industry 4.0”, “The 3rd wave of Industrialisation” or simply the fear to keep up with the competition it's becoming a major conversation point in most board rooms. We have even seen the rise of the new executive role of Chief Digital Officer (CDO) or a change in the old CIO role to become digitally focused and the creation of CDIO’s.
But what does digital mean and how does a company go about transforming to a digital business and competing in a changing landscape?
Ste Nadin, Chief Architect for Fujitsu Digital, will look to provide a grounding into what digital really means to different people in the industry and how this is starting to effect the daily lives of individuals and in turn how they are starting to expect business to evolve and engage with them in a digital way. In addition, the talk will touch upon the technologies that are helping make this happen but also the cultural shifts required in companies and individuals to fully embrace the possibilities of digital. He will do this by walking through a number of real world examples focusing on the benefits achieved. Lastly Ste will talk about where this is likely to lead us in the next 5 years.
Two research papers have been undertaken with industry last year and then followed up at the beginning 2016 regarding what digital means and the transformational route to it. The talk will speak about some of these results as well as discussing what they mean.
