Stewart will talk about his book, "Data Protection and Compliance in Context", giving an overview of the research, writing and publishing process, an overview of data protection law generally and an indication of the steps that organizations should take on the road to compliance.

About the Presenter

Barrister and solicitor Stewart Room is the National Chair of the National Association of Data Protection and Freedom of Information Officers (NADPO) and a member of the BCS Information Privacy Expert Panel. He is also a visiting lecturer on Computer and Communications Law, Queen Mary, the University of London. He is the author of "Data Protection and Compliance in Context", published by the British Computer Society (2006), and the author and editor of the data proteciton chapter in "Goode: Consumer Credit Law and Practice" (Butterworths, 2005-2006). He also runs DPA Law ( a leading free resource on data protection.
