Privacy Notice

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to track the actions of users on this website. Google Analytics is a web analytics tool that helps us understand how visitors engage with the website. We can view a variety of reports about how visitors interact with their website so they can improve it. Google Analytics collects information anonymously. It reports website trends without identifying individual visitors.

Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to track visitor interactions. These cookies are used to store information, such as what time the current visit occurred, whether the visitor has been to the site before, and what site referred the visitor to the web page. Browsers do not share first-party cookies across domains.

Google Analytics does not report the actual IP address information to us. We also use IP masking, which tells Google Analytics to only use a portion of the IP address, rather than the entire IP address, for geolocation.

Google Analytics has the option to anonymously share your data with Google and others for trending purposes. We do not share any of your data with Google or others.

If you wish to opt out of sending your information to any website that uses Google Analytics, you can download and install Google's Opt-Out tool for your browser.

Registration for Events

We ask you to register for any event that you wish to attend. This is not mandatory, but helps us to identify whether we need to provide further resources for an event; whether the event is popular; and the proportion of BCS members to non-members attending.

We keep your name, and if relevant, your membership number, for a maximum period of 30 days after an event, after which it is deleted. We retain a count indefinitely of the number of members and non-members who registered to attend an event. No personal data is retained beyond that already mentioned.
